The name of this online exhibition of mine is: Are We Aware?
Its aim is to convey to you the work experiences of individuals with autism spectrum disorder. Its aim is also to make us aware that we have responsibilities in building a world where inclusion is not merely a slogan but a daily practice. Because inclusion requires going beyond just being ‘tolerant.’
That is, we must also enable those whose paths are a little different from ours and more difficult to do things, and we must value what they do. This online exhibition aims to disseminate a photovoice study — conducted by Yeşim GÜLEÇ ASLAN, Hatice ŞENGÜL ERDEM and Özlem DALGIN within Eker Dairy Products Inc. and the SOBE Foundation — that examines the experiences of individuals with autism. These are photographs in which these individuals with autism, all of whom work at a workplace, convey their own experiences. With this online exhibition, which is the product of my work designed on the basis of the ‘social bridge approach’ in social entrepreneurship, I aim to increase the visibility within society of neurotypical young people by sharing their experiences.
